“Code is our program. Why did we choose this name? Code is the language that computers speak… ”. It was July 28, 2017 and with these words Barbara Carfagna began a new adventure on Raiuno: a program that aimed to tell the complexity of our digital life.
It has been a while since Barbara Carfagna had this project. From 2012 on Saturdays at 10.30 he had a two and a half minute column in which he tried to tell the future starting from the past: “I used to go to the Imperial Forums to explain the concept of the forum, or to Giulio Andreotti’s archive for show how the blockchain works, or I used Galileo’s original telescope to talk about Space ”. Very informative. The program he had in mind was completely different, the idea was to tell the frontier of the future without trivializing it to simplify too much. First name: Code. A program not for those excluded from the Net, but for the curious who already existed on the net and wanted to understand more.
The proposal was lying in some drawer when Andrea Fabiano landed in Raiuno as director. “With great courage he told me: do the program and don’t worry about the ratings, but the quality, I want you to understand from the first episode that it is something different from the rest”. 6 episodes were scheduled for the first season, unfortunately in the height of summer, unfortunately late at night, a location that has never changed, but in the meantime thanks to RaiPlay it is possible to review all the episodes at any time. The first was on cryptocurrencies and digital payments, the keyword “blockchain”. Tough stuff “and yet we got 9 percent of the plays, it was crazy.” At the time then on Saturday afternoon a shorter and simplified replay was on the air.
The 6 episodes were also confirmed in 2018 and 2019; while in 2020 and 2021 they were reduced to two. Officially, for the pandemic.
