It’s been a while since Windows 11 was released, and now if you’re shopping for a new computer, you may still want to ask a question: should I upgrade to Windows 11 or stick with Windows 10?
Before the release of Windows 11, the main reason for users to update to a major new operating system version was to continue to get new and exciting features. Also, updating to major new operating systems is necessary for regular security updates.
Despite the release of Windows 11, Microsoft has no plans to revoke Windows 10 features or security updates until at least 2025. Microsoft will release security updates to older devices that cannot or do not want to upgrade to Windows 11 version 21H2.
These Windows 10 features that disappeared in Windows 11
There is no doubt that Windows 11 has some improvements in design, but if users update now, they will lose a lot of features compared to Windows 10.
“Start” menu
As you may already know, Windows 11 ditched live tiles in favor of static icons, and there was no way to change the size of app icons placed in the Start menu. Users cannot group icons or even resize the Start menu itself.
Microsoft also removed the option to open the Start menu full screen.
Here are all the missing features in the new Start:

The App Folders feature is currently unavailable, but it will appear in Windows 11 version 22H2.

It is not possible to delete pinned apps or just have all app thumbnails.

The settings page cannot be pinned to “Start”.

Recommendations cannot be deleted.

Badges are not supported.
Work column
It goes without saying that Windows 11’s worst feature is its new job column.
The work column is now limited to the bottom of the display, and it’s unclear if this feature will change. Apps also don’t get pinned to the taskbar if the user simply drags and drops, which is odd because it’s advertised as Windows 11 for better productivity.
Here’s a list of all the missing features in the new job column:

The size and position of the work column cannot be changed.

Can’t undo grouped labels.

Files can’t be dragged and dropped onto the taskbar, but the feature is rumored to be returning later this year. Additionally, users will be able to drag and drop app icons onto the taskbar, but it only applies to desktop apps.

System icons such as sounds in the tray cannot be disabled.

Microsoft removed the full right-click menu for the job column, so the option to launch job admin is missing.

Toolbar support has been reduced – unable to add addresses, links, desktop and custom folders.

The Windows 10 battery popup allows users to quickly change power modes. This has been removed in Windows 11.

Microsoft removed the ability to view or add calendar events.
Windows Explorer
File Explorer is basically the same as Windows 10, but there are some features currently missing in Windows 11:

There is no update option in the right-click menu. This can be a problem as File Explorer sometimes fails to update automatically.

The new right-click menu no longer supports all the features of the classic version and is slower than usual.

The “Quick Access” feature has been removed.

Folder previews are not supported in RTM builds, but this will be resolved in Windows 11 22H2 builds.
