Compulsion Games launched “The Lucky Few” in August 2018 and supported various expansions for the next year
. A few months before the game’s release, the studio was acquired by Microsoft, and according to a recent interview with the French website XboxSquad, the studio started working on its next project in early 2019.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has repeatedly stated that Compulsion Games’ upcoming game is one of his most anticipated Xbox Game Studios works, but we don’t know anything about it. Naila Hadjas, head of public relations at Compulsion Games, provided some clues, saying that this is a single-player game that is played from a third-person perspective and has a strong narrative.
The development is currently in an intermediate stage, implying the use of Unreal Engine. Hadjas also said that Compulsion’s sound effects team has been working with The Coalition and Rare to help each other as much as possible, and they often communicate with other Xbox game studios. Finally, she also revealed that since Microsoft acquired the studio, the size of the studio has doubled. There are currently about 80 people. They currently do not want to expand more because they want to maintain a small scale.
When we will see Compulsion Games’ next game is currently unknown, but since the project is half completed, we may see it unveiled later this year, most likely in the event of a game award, or At some point next year at the latest.
