MAMMOGRAPHIES reduced by 30% nationwide, with peaks of 40% in Sardinia and Calabria and 37% in the Autonomous Province of Trento, and a 22% decline in hospitalizations for ischemic stroke with peaks of 54% in Valle d’Aosta and almost 50% in Molise. To monitor the resilience of regional health systems during the pandemic, the data processed by the National Agency for Regional Health Services (Agenas) which compared the same periods of 2020 with those of 2019. The analysis was carried out in collaboration with the Management and Health Laboratory (MeS) of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.

Between March and June 2020 in Italy there was a reduction of -49.9% in scheduled hospitalizations compared to the same months in 2019, with Molise seeing them reduced by over -73%, while on the opposite side there is the Autonomous Province of Bolzano with -35.5%. As for urgent hospitalizations, the decrease was -24% at national level, with the worst data recorded in Molise (-55%) and the best in Lombardy (-12%).
