‘Pressure on welfare services increases, the trend of growth in the weekly incidence of infections continues’

Rome, March 19 (beraking latest news Salute) – The growth trend of the weekly incidence of Covid-19 infections in Italy continues: the week just passed records a national value of 230 new cases per 100,000 residents. At the same time, the pressure on welfare services increases, about one in 2 regions exceeds the critical threshold for occupying intensive care and non-critical areas. This is the picture that emerged from the 44th episode of the Covid-19 Instant Report, an initiative of the High School of Economics and Management of Health Systems (Altems) of the Catholic University for the systematic comparison of the trend in the spread of Sars -Cov-2 nationwide.

“It is now clear that this third wave has hit our country – says Americo Cicchetti, director of Altems – and also the management of the pandemic seems to be consolidated. In the last week there have been +80.70 home blocks per 100,000 inhabitants, +4.94 ordinary hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants and +0.67 intensive hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants. The alert threshold must remain high – he points out – because the average weekly value of new admissions to intensive care has been an increasing trend for weeks , is equal to 2.98 per 100,000 inhabitants and 9 Regions (about 1 out of 2) have exceeded the thresholds of 30% and 40% beyond which there is an overload respectively for intensive care and for the non-critical area ” .
