IT WAS one of the most controversial topics during the pandemic. Does going to school increase the risk of infection for children and their families or not? For months there was a heated confrontation between the two “factions” which included politicians, epidemiologists, infectious diseases, school staff, parents, with often opposing views. The scientific comparison cannot be declared concluded. The starting point, however, is represented by a fact: in Italy the second and third waves developed in the weeks in which most of the children returned to school.
