Covid, another study confirms: mRNA vaccines prevent infection, more than 95% effective

by admin

The mRNA vaccines against Covid, therefore that of Pfizer-Bionteck and Moderna – are more than 95% effective in preventing Sars-Cov-2 infection. A further, encouraging confirmation, comes from real life data, i.e. from data collected on the indistinct population, and not from studies that test drugs or vaccines on selected populations and which therefore – based on the selection made – may also have better results than those that then they are recorded when those drugs or vaccines are used indiscriminately on everyone.

Covid, if we let Delta circulate, the virus will understand how to make (also) the vaccinated sick

But this time the data are superimposable. And this is revealed by an observational study on Annals of Internal Medicine, carried out on American veterans that shows – also confirming the data coming from Israel, according to which Pfizer prevents 92% infection – how vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna can prevent Coronavirus infection in over 95% of cases . An even more important result if we consider the high risk of the population observed – the veterans, in fact – due to the advanced age and the many co-morbidities, compared to the general population.

Covid vaccine, Pfizer will seek authorization for the third dose. But the Fda and the CDC are holding back

VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System researchers studied data on Sars-Cov-2 tests carried out from December 2020 to March 2021 to assess the short-term effectiveness in preventing infection. Only 18% of the 54,360 vaccinated veterans observed were positive for Coronavirus Sars-Cov-2, 32.8% were negative. The efficacy of the vaccine was 97.1% and more after the second dose: in particular it was 96.2% for Pfizer-Biontech and 98.2% for Moderna. The effectiveness of the vaccine was similar for those over 70 and over, compared to that of younger people, and was similar between blacks and whites, men and women, and those with co-morbidities and those who did not. According to the authors, the study clearly shows the efficacy of available vaccines in preventing infection, while the efficacy in preventing death and serious illness has not been studied.
