Covid: does stress in pregnancy “modify” the DNA of the newborn?

by admin

DOES THE STRESS experienced by pregnant women during the pandemic have an impact on the health of the baby? To understand this, the IRCCS Mondino Foundation of Pavia has launched a project that involves ten neonatologies in Northern Italy. The results collected so far show associations with epigenetic modifications of the genes involved in the regulation of stress, as explained by Livio Provenzi, leader of the project.

Until 11 February to submit new projects

Provenzi is one of the 8 young winners of the Roche call for independent research 2021, dedicated to the under 40s. The call for the 2022 edition opened last November, but there are still a few days – until 11 February – to nominate your project. The projects can be promoted exclusively by public or private Italian non-profit organizations and by IRCCS. They must be in English and the application can be sent directly on the website www.rocheperlaricerca.it. As in past editions, the Principal Investigator (PI) must be under the age of 40. Finally, also for this year, Fondazione Roche leaves the exclusive ownership of every invention or right generated within the research project to the participating bodies. In the video section of LabRevolution you can see the interviews with the other winners.
