Covid, EU agreement to recognize it as an occupational disease

The agreement reached sends “a strong political signal to recognize the impact of Covid on workers and the essential contribution of people working in health and social services and other workers at higher risk of contracting the disease”, commented the commissioner EU for Work, Nicolas Schmit.

– Once the coronavirus is recognized as an occupational disease in a Member State, workers in the affected sectors who have contracted the disease in the workplace will be able to acquire specific rights under national rules: among others, the right to compensation .
