The Covid -19 curve is inverted: in 7 days a net increase in infections (+ 32.1%) and deaths also rise (+ 6.1%). Ordinary hospitalizations decreased slightly (-3.3%) while intensive care decreased by 16.4%. This was revealed by the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation for the week 8-14 June. The increase in infections affects almost all Italian regions and is “probably driven by the sub-variant Omicron BA.5”. In 99 provinces there is a percentage increase in new cases, with Cagliari registering an incidence of over 500 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.
