Beijing, May 31 (beraking latest news Salute) – The Chinese government has imposed anti-Covid-19 checks for those traveling to the southern province of Guangdong: anyone who leaves the populous region will have to perform a test. The decision was made following a spike in infections that alarmed authorities.
Guangdong, which borders Hong Kong, has registered 20 new cases in the past 24 hours. The numbers are quite low compared to those of many countries around the world, but the increase has shaken Chinese leaders who thought they had the trend of infections under control. All people who, starting at 10pm today, will leave this region by plane, train, bus or private vehicle, will have to submit the results of a test performed at least 72 hours earlier, as announced by the provincial government.
China eased most restrictions on domestic travel after the government declared the virus under control last March. The official death toll in the country is 4,636 out of 91,099 confirmed cases.
