Covid: the kiss that does not contangle

by admin

LONDON – How to keep social distances on the set has been one of the problems of the film and television industry since the pandemic broke out: dozens of actors, technicians, operators, directors, forced by stage requirements to stay together for long hours , often in a confined environment. But even more difficult, within the set of a film or serial, is to shoot the love scenes, when the protagonists must at least hug and kiss each other. Now a very successful English drama reveals the method it has adopted to obviate the risk that the actors, with a kiss, expose themselves to the risk of being infected with each other.

“Coronation Street”, a broadcast that has been replicated for many years on the private ITV network, has decided to use a couple of particular stunts for filming of this kind: a man and a woman who are husband and wife, or at least have a stable relationship , in real life, i.e. members of the same household. For which the norm of social distance does not apply. And that the risk of infecting each other by being close to each other, or kissing each other, they still face every day.

Kiss me again, desire for tenderness after a year of Covid

by Irma D’Aria

When Tyrone and Alina, protagonists of the episode of the popular show aired on Friday, passionately kissed each other, many viewers will have thought how the actors who play them were able to follow the rules of social distancing in force in Great Britain for the entire population. The truth is that Alan Halsall and Ruxandra Porojnicu, the two performers, were filmed talking until a moment before kissing, but they never came within two meters of each other. Then, for the romantic moment, as the BBC reported this morning, instead of the two actors the cameras filmed two stunts, Alex Mulvaney and his wife Hannah.

Covid, Valentine’s Day between ‘stolen’ kisses and couple therapy

“My agent told me that Coronation Street needed doubles who were within the same family bubble,” says Alex, who was already working as a double for the show. “My wife Hannah had never done such a job, but my agent knew she has hair as black as the Alina from the show and asked her if she was interested. At first on the set she was a little nervous because she is a huge fan of this series, but then everything went very well and the scene was perfect ”.

The show’s producer, Iain MacLeod, congratulated the writers of the script for having found a solution in compliance with the restrictive measures made necessary by the pandemic. In addition to replacing the actors in the kissing scenes, all the performers on the program undergo swabs for Covid before they start filming and then remain in a “bubble”, pledging not to meet other people for the duration of the shoot.
