Emergency at the Civil Hospital: tampons for patients and staff, sanitation and finally reopening

ALGHERO. Temporary closure of the Medicine department of the Alghero civil hospital due to the presence of a woman already hospitalized who tested positive for Covid. Immediate closure as per the national safety protocol, with the operators and other patients present in the ward who were subjected to a swab. All negative, while the premises have been sanitized. The ward was reopened after several hours thanks to the work done by health workers. The woman, on the other hand, an elderly woman from a nursing home, was transferred to the covid ward located at the marine hospital where, at the moment, about ten beds for low-medium intensity patients are active. On the Covid issue, the health management of the hospital in Alghero spoke of the situation under control, with understandable inconvenience for the user when the various safety protocols must be applied. Meanwhile there are complaints about the long waits in the emergency room. On the subject, the national association of social action sent a letter addressed to the extraordinary commissioner of the regional emergency and urgency company of Sardinia and to the health management of the hospital of Alghero.

According to the association, “ambulances, in particular those with patients who have suspicious symptoms that could lead to Covid, are made to stop for a very long time in front of the entrance, without being able to” clear away “pending the outcome of the swab”. The representatives of Anas Sardegna also ask for news on the hot chamber: “the work on the new hot chamber has long since been completed, but it has never come into operation, while it would be a precious relief valve that would allow different access routes to be activated for patients positive or not positive. ”In the meantime, in the city, regarding Covid, the situation seems to be improving compared to a few weeks ago. According to the latest data provided yesterday by Ats and communicated by Mayor Conoci, there are 69 positive people from Alghero, 6 people hospitalized while those in quarantine are 39. Data stable compared to last week, but down compared to the first days of August. In the meantime, activity in the Mariotti vaccination hub is at full speed, with a high average which, in recent days, has also reached 800 vaccinations per day. The Mariotti hub is open from Monday to Saturday and serves both Alghero and the towns that are part of the Alghero health district. These days there are several young people who are going to get vaccinated, many of them students in anticipation of the reopening of schools in September.

Speaking of vaccines, in the Alghero hub, as well as in those of Sassari and Ozieri, to participate in the immunization campaign and receive the first dose of the vaccine, citizens over sixty years old can access directly and without any reservation. Furthermore, thanks to the wide availability of doses, people over 60 can receive mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna), as well as viral vector vaccines (Astrazeneca and Johnson & Johnson).
