Covid: WHO, over 4.5 million new cases, up for 7 weeks

Rome, April 14 (beraking latest news Salute) – New cases of Covid-19 worldwide are on the rise for the seventh consecutive week, with over 4.5 million infections reported in the last 7 days. The balance is growing, for the fourth consecutive week, also for deaths, + 7% compared to last week, with over 76,000 new deaths reported. These are the data of the weekly epidemiological update released by the World Health Organization.

The greatest growth in incidence was observed in Southeast Asia (particularly India) and in the Eastern Mediterranean regions. The western Pacific region holds the grim record of the increase in Covid-19 victims, which have grown by 189%, a figure largely due to a sharp increase in new deaths in the Philippines. Southeast Asia records + 47%.
