Dainese D-One, the life-saving vest for runners is done in three

Promise kept. Six months later, the laboratories of D-Air Lab (a research company of Dainese) present “Trail vest” and “Light pack”, two versions of the life-saving vest “D-One run”, designed to guarantee the safety of runners . The project is inspired by the “Smart jacket” presented by the Vicenza company at Eicma 2019, a wireless airbag designed for motorcyclists. They all have in common. The conductive stitching system integrated into the structure allows the various sensors equipped with accelerometer placed in the vest to communicate, which are able to evaluate the sudden change in attitude due to an accidental event and in a fraction of a second they expand the airbag. The differences are in the design, but above all in the algorithm that manages the opening of the device: the angle and speed of fall from a motorcycle are very different from those of a runner, a cyclist or a scooter driver.

The common characteristics remain those already described for the “D-One run”: from the LEDs for visibility, to the connection to the mobile phone for emergency calls, to the automatic alarm system in case of no movement after the fall, to the operable siren with a button, without taking out the phone. Ā«The goal is always to offer security – explains marketing manager Marco Soliman -. We have worked out the suggestions of those who had already purchased the D-One, improving the interface for mobile phones. Soon, colored versions of that model will also be on the market, red or blue for the gilets designed for women and black-orange or black-blue for the men’s version Ā».

Irina Potryasilova: “I present to you the vest designed to protect women”

D-One Trail vest
It is the model dedicated to mountain running enthusiasts, an activity that has particular characteristics compared to running in the city or in the park. First of all, the need to carry energy bars and water (or other supplements), to a greater extent than the activity on the flat: there is a higher expenditure of calories and a greater dispersion of liquids, which must be compensated to avoid cramps or drops in blood pressure. Usually, runners carry large baby carriers or a backpack. So, the D-Air Lab technicians invented this vest-backpack, with front and back pockets large enough to hold a waterproof jacket, a camelback, energy bars and some personal items. All in 200 grams, just 50 more than the original D-One.

D-One Light pack
It is an even lighter version, with a sort of shoulder strap-backpack to carry personal items, a small anorak and a “camelback”. It has been designed to meet the needs of lovers of ecological two wheels, from classic bikes to pedal assisted bikes, to electric scooters. Home-office trips or short trips do not require special baggage for nutrition and hydration. Less technical and more citizen, the “Light pack” should meet the needs of a wider audience.

Prices: D-One run: 299 euro, D-One trail vest: 279 euro, D-One lightpack: 239 euro.
