Dark Horse Media has been acquired by Embracer Group-

by admin

Yesterday, the Swedish video game holding company Embracer Group AB announced another acquisition. They have now acquired Dark Horse Media, which is mainly known for adult comics such as “Hell Monster”, “Modern King” and “Evil City”. They have also produced many licensed works (“Star Wars”, “Stranger Things” and “The Witcher”, etc.), but it is not clear whether Embracer can use these works in their video games.

Mike Richardson, the founder and CEO of Dark Horse, seemed very happy about this and stated in the press release:

“When Dark Horse enters a new chapter in history, I can’t express my excitement in words. The synergy with Embracer’s network has brought excitement not only to Dark Horse, but also to the creators and companies we work with. I have had many fascinating conversations with Lars Wingefors, CEO of Embracer, and I am very impressed with what he and his team have built. I have to say that the future of our company has never looked so bright. pass.”

Embracer Group AB has made several high-profile acquisitions in the past few years, including 4A Games, Saber Interactive and Gearbox Entertainment. So far, these have been related to video games, but last week they acquired the board game giant Asmodee, which is now a comics publisher. We think this shows a new strategy, and makes it almost impossible for us to guess what kind of company they will buy next, because they are now open to companies other than video games.
