The story of a nursing home where all the guests, and not only, have tested positive despite having received the second dose of vaccine is disconcerting.
Sardinia is confirmed as one of the regions most affected by the current wave of Covid. The case of Porto Torres is sensational.
Two hospitalized, all the others in good condition
In the RSA “Martiri Turritani” they are results positive even all 23 guests of the structure. Most of the infected (all of them had received the second dose of vaccine) are asymptomatic or under control but two of them required hospitalization.
The operators of the Turrian nursing home were also infected and complained about their paradoxical situation. “We caregivers have all the symptoms – the SDGs reported to theSardinian Union – but, despite this, we continue to work in these conditions. Those who manage the community have asked for help from the health facilities and bodies in charge”.
“If the next swab I will be negative – explains one of the employees – I will leave this place to protect my health, because we can’t take it anymore”.
The situation has been going on since August, the day when the first positive buffer was detected. Then, in turn, all the others. At that point, the entire structure had to prohibit visits and practice distancing.
In Porto Torres, an emergency situation
The situation that emerged at the “Martiri Turritani” RSA reflects what is happening in the entire locality. This week in Porto Torres, the positives are 57, fourteen more than the previous week.
A general picture that led the mayor Massimo Mulas to ask for the intervention of the Public Health and Hygiene Service of Assl Sassari. There were 36 quarantined subjects in a municipality where 61.78% of the population received both doses of the vaccine.
The Assl di Sassari is committed to supporting health care at the Nursing Home, with the daily intervention of the doctors of the Special Continuity Care Units (Usca). This support will remain until the swabs are negativized and, in any case, until the end of the emergency.
For his part, the mayor has launched an appeal for compliance with safety regulations. “We are monitoring the evolution of the situation together – Mulas said -. The increase in infections is a worrying phenomenon but we will do everything to avoid restrictive measures”.
