Discovering the ocean floor: more than 20% already mapped

Piece by piece, the depths of the oceans around the world – the knowledge of which has always been one of the most exciting challenges for man – continue to reveal themselves to the eye of scientists. To date, 20.6% of the submerged surface has been mapped, with a small but significant increase (thanks to the pandemic) compared to 19% last year: on such large dimensions, however, even + 1.6% constitutes a plus important, equal to half the area of ​​the United States.
