“Documented health problems”: what’s behind Giorgino’s “farewell”

The matter is being evaluated by my lawyers“. Francesco Giorgino it does not get unbalanced and avoids comments. On his removal from the guide of Tg1 at 20, the journalist hides behind an almost forced silence. Yet, of course, he would have a lot to say about the case. “I am not authorized to speak about internal company regulations“, cuts short the face of the news of Rai1, which last June 15 was granted by the public with a greeting more like a farewell. Yes, because, together with colleagues Laura Chimenti and Emma D’Aquino, the anchor was in fact moved from the prestigious evening edition of the news to that of 13.30: a provision with respect to which there was no lack of controversial aftermath and, now, background.

According to some reconstructions, the change wanted by the director of Tg1, Monica Maggioni, would have come after the three busters refused to conduct a morning press review at 6.30 in turn. Someone spoke of a simple renewal in the header, others more drastically than “punishment“towards those journalists. Specifically, however, the case of Francesco Giorgino would be the most delicate. According to what beraking latest news learns and reports, in fact, it seems that the journalist – already months before the introduction of the press review at 6.30 – had asked not to be overloaded with dawn shifts for health reasons, documented by medical certificates. Moreover, as deputy director of the newspaper, the anchorman was already working shifts. Still, his needs would not be listened to.

According to what beraking latest news learns, the removal from the running of the 8pm edition would have been communicated to the journalist of Tg1 on June 15, about an hour after the broadcast, despite the presence of medical records cited above. That same evening, at the end of the news program he led, the anchorman would have pronounced that strange concluding greeting (“Goodbye to everyone…“), which later became a case and was immediately interpreted by many as a goodbye to the public of that band. Now, in the light of the background that emerged, for the Apulian journalist the story does not seem to have ended at all. Apparently, in fact, there will be legal consequences.

Giorgino himself has let it be understood, who for the moment does not make statements on the case and limits himself to talking about ongoing evaluations by his lawyers. Meanwhile, while Saxa Rubra is blowing a storm, the changes desired by the director Monica Maggioni they are becoming effective. Last night, June 16, Tg1 at 20 was hosted by Alessio Zucchini, who that same day also led the morning press review.
