The browser DuckDuckGo announced yesterday that it will launch a desktop version. This is after the Android and iOS browsers were released in 2018, and the desktop version was finally developed at the request of users. DuckDuckGo said that the Mac version will be launched first, and then the PC version will be launched. The beta version of the Mac version has already begun, and it is only available to invited users for the time being.

The Mac version of DuckDuckGo will use the same rendering engine as Safari, but it will be equipped with a lot of features to protect user privacy, including the default DuckDuckGo searcher, anti-tracking Tracker Blocker, new anti-cookie protection (can block about 50% pop-ups), email protection, DuckDuckGo’s famous one-click Delete Data Fire button, and more. DuckDuckGo said that their browser is faster than Google Chrome, and it will block the tracker before it is loaded. User data such as browsing history, login passwords, and bookmarks will not be uploaded, but will only be stored on the user’s computer.

To participate in DuckDuckGo’s beta program, users need to download and install the mobile version, and register on the settings page, where invited Mac users can participate in beta testing. DuckDuckGo emphasized that the Windows version of the browser will be launched later, and the program will be open sourced in the future.
