E3 2021, the most anticipated video games and conference guide

by admin

E3, which stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo, was for years the most important event in the world of video games, the moment when hardware and software developers concentrated all the announcements.

Over time and with the change of strategies brought by the Internet, that importance has waned and the cancellation of the 2020 edition it has certainly not improved things due to the pandemic, but this year E3 is ready to return, even if only in digital form. Officially, the event takes place from 12 to 15 June, but the first announcements, large and small, are already starting to appear on the Net.

A particularly interesting event will be the Summer Game Fest, online presentation born last year to make up for the void of E3 which returns this year on June 10 at 20 Italian with a load of quite important expectations: the big absentee will be Sony, which prefers to break away from the jumble of news involving the E3 with events diluted over time, although some games that will also arrive on PS5 will be presented in these days by other developers.

To follow E3 in more depth is possible register on the event website and access a hub where over 40 participating companies will post videos and other content, or follow the live stream on Twitch, Youtube, Twitter e Facebook. Or consult the pages of the individual developers. If desired, there is also an official app.

The most anticipated announcements and games
Like every year, the rumors and rumors have accompanied E3 since the previous months, so here are some of the most anticipated video games and some of the announcements that could be made these days.

Elden Ring
From Software’s game is among the most anticipated titles of recent years. Both because the developer is the same as the Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro saga, the game of the year 2019, and because more than 700 days have passed since its announcement without anyone knowing anything more. A new trailer will probably be shown, perhaps with the release date, during the Summer Game Fest.

Psychonauts 2
Tim Schafer, historical author of titles Lucasarts, has been working on the project for years now and should be on the home straight. For those unfamiliar with the game, we are talking about an adventure inside the human mind in which the protagonist can visit the psyche of various characters and face everything inside it. The first chapter dates back to 2005 and was released for PlayStation 2.

Starfield
The science fiction title of Bethesda, of which very little has been seen so far, will undoubtedly be one of the most interesting arrows in the arc of Microsoft, which recently acquired the developer who owns i marchi di Morrowind, Doom e Fallout. It’s a completely new title in a setting far removed from what Bethesda has accustomed us to, so the curiosity is even greater. Something about the upcoming Indiana Jones game is also expected from Bethesda.

Halo
After last year’s debacle, when the game showed up with a presentation not up to standard expected by a new generation, and the consequent shift of the release date to the end of 2021, a lot is expected from the presentation of Halo and the work to be done to regain the trust will have to be excellent.

Switch Pro
The gossip about a new Switch has grown stronger, so much so that for some the announcement of a new console would have happened even before E3: according to the well-informed, this Pro version would have a better screen and the ability to take advantage of 4K when hooked to the dock.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
This announcement is obviously linked to the previous one: Breath of the Wild it was and still is one of the most acclaimed titles of recent years and its sequel could be the ideal match with a new console able to show it at its best.

Valve and Microsoft
It is not yet clear what is boiling in the pot, but it seems that the two companies are working on an agreement about which not much is known yet. Valve operates Steam, the largest digital delivery store for computers, and Microsoft not only has the Xbox, but the Gamepass as well, which is a subscription service that provides a hundred free games every month. An agreement between these two companies could significantly change the balance of power in the sector.

Final Fantasy XVI
Nothing was seen at the last Square Enix digital event, so it is quite likely that the company will take advantage of the E3 stage to give more information about the game, perhaps a new gameplay footage. Fans of the saga are also hoping to see something about the second part of the Final Fantasy VII remake.

Hideo Kojima’s next project
Death Streanding now came out two years ago and it seems that this year we will finally be able to take a look at the new project. However, there will not be much to get excited about, because it is very likely that at most we will know the title and any trailer will be postponed to next year. But it could also be a sequel, albeit unlikely, of Silent Hill.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits
One of the most ambitious independent titles of recent years, will be released on August 24th for all available platforms, but on June 10 during the Summer Game Fest there will be a space for him too. It will probably be possible to better discover the world in which the protagonist moves.
