EA Play Live 2022 “Cancelled” –

Many game publishers have already started hosting their own announcement-filled shows due to the pandemic and the E3 disruption, but Electronic Arts was one of the first to do so with EA Play Live. The annual show has already unveiled “Going Together,” “Battlefield 2042,” and more over the years. This year, however, was not the case.

An EA representative confirmed in an email to us that the rumors that the company is not hosting EA Play Live 2022 are true:

“We love EA Play Live because it’s our way of connecting with players and sharing new things with everyone. However, this year things aren’t going well enough to show you everything on one date. Our world-class Exciting things are happening in the studio, and we will reveal more about these projects at the right time this year. We look forward to spending the year with you all!”

It’s important to note the phrase “we’ll have more news about each project in due course”, because this so-called “cancellation” doesn’t mean EA will have a boring 2022. The only question is: when and where will FIFA 23, the new EA Originals, the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, and more be unveiled and shown? Geoff Keighley may have some good news at Gamescom in June and August, but the Breaking Dimension remake’s livestream also proved that the company is just as happy to host its own smaller events. Regardless, even without EA Play Live, we’re definitely looking forward to a very exciting summer and fall.
