On Thursday 7 March, the “Cosimo Piccinno” auditorium of the Ministry of Health hosted the event “Accessible medicine: legislative innovations. What changes for the citizen”, dedicated to the reorganization of the distribution method of some medicines, established with the 2024 Budget Law.

“A closer healthcare system with the new distribution of medicines: easier, fairer and more sustainable access to medicines for citizens, especially the elderly, with chronic pathologies” underlined Minister Schillaci, who added: “A technical table is planned to evaluate the economic impact and sustainability of the new system, also thanks to the improvement of adherence to therapies”.

Undersecretary Gemmato, introducing the work, highlighted: “The 2024 budget law expands access to medicines, bringing them from hospital pharmacies to local ones. It improves citizens’ proximity to essential care, breaking down an old, outdated distribution model”
