Düsseldorf – Digital networking event “Together for good nutrition in old age – our offer, your commitment” on June 14th

  • The networking center for senior nutrition invites senior representatives and other multipliers to exchange ideas

In a digital event, the networking center for senior nutrition NRW (VSE) of the consumer center NRW provides information about healthy nutrition in old age and would like to exchange ideas with senior citizens’ representatives and other interested parties as part of the NRW-wide networking work. The aim is to jointly promote balanced and health-promoting nutrition for seniors.

The networking center for senior nutrition is in close contact with the state senior citizens’ representation of North Rhine-Westphalia (LSV), which is also represented on the advisory board of the VSE. “This ensures mutual support – but suggestions from the LSV also flow directly into the work of the network center,” says Charlotte Dahlheim, head of the VSE NRW. On June 14, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to approx. 12:30 p.m. via zoom, the VSE is organizing a networking event for interested parties, but also for senior citizens’ representatives and their advisory boards, in which the importance of and the arguments for a balanced diet in old age will be highlighted become. It is also shown how a healthy diet can contribute to well-being and maintain or improve the quality of life. The federal working group of senior citizens’ organizations (BAGSO) and the state senior citizens’ representation of North Rhine-Westphalia are involved in the programme. Registration is possible until June 14th.

The event enables the exchange and networking among each other. The event offers a platform for multipliers working with seniors to take up ideas for local work on senior nutrition and to support each other. “Representatives for seniors pick up on many local issues and give seniors a voice. You and other multipliers give important impetus to municipal work with seniors and their networks,” says Dahlheim. “How the VSE can help with this is also a topic of the event.”

Prevent malnutrition and malnutrition
The work of the network center is based on the quality standard of the German Society for Nutrition, which helps to prevent malnutrition and malnutrition among seniors. The networking center for senior nutrition (VSE) of the consumer advice center in North Rhine-Westphalia is the point of contact for all questions relating to senior-friendly and health-promoting nutrition. The work of the VSE focuses on supporting senior citizens and their families. Eating and drinking in the care facilities, the lunch specials and the mobile delivery services are also of particular importance. Various advice and event offers, a hotline and a digital information platform are available for this at www.seniorenverpflegung.nrw.

Funded by the Consumer Protection Ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia at the beginning of 2021 and with the support of the Federal Ministry of Food and Nutrition as an advisory body for the introduction and implementation of health-promoting and balanced catering in the living environment of older people, the NRW Senior Nutrition Networking Center has since been on the road nationwide to promote the commitment of stakeholders in the catering of Picking up on senior citizens, bundling them and implementing them in practical steps.
