After abandoning the name Pro Evolution Soccer, Konami has also announced the release date of eFootball, the new completely free and online incarnation of the popular soccer game. The game will be available on October 30 and will allow nine teams to play friendly matches online and offline. This is basically an appetizer compared to the first full-bodied update, scheduled for late autumn.

With Pes, the symbol of a generation of video games disappears: now it’s time for eFootball

The teams present immediately will be Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Corinthians Paulista, Flamengo, Juventus. Manchester United, River Plate and Sao Paulo. It will be possible to compete in the Camp Nou, Old Trafford, Allianz Stadium, Emirates Stadium, Allianz Arena and eFootball Stadium.

The first update will increase the number of game modes, among them there will be Creative Teams, which is the heart of the online business. Inside it will be possible to compose your own team, a bit like it happened in myClub in previous PES. With the arrival of Creative Teams, a series of online and offline competitions will also be added and the ability to play console and PC players together.

According to Konami, the autumn update will also add the game’s monetization model, which it says will be “rebalanced to ensure that all players can achieve the same potential, regardless of how they acquire in-game items.” The game will have three currencies: eFootball Coins (real currency), eFootball Points (earned through play) and GP (also earned through play).

After a certain number of certain types of matches played, players will be rewarded with items such as a nomination contract (which allows them to choose a specific player for their team), eFootball coins or more. As in Fornite, it is possible to purchase a premium “Advantage Match Pass” which increases the value of the rewards unlocked as you progress through the game.

As for PS5 controller support and the ability to let mobile users, obviously connected with a controller, play in the same games, this will be discussed in future updates, which should also introduce some changes to the game, such as special shots and others. effect shots.

Konami also reiterated that eFootball will be an updated platform over the years and that any date change, for example from 2022 to 2023, only identifies the season, exactly as happens in many titles that evolve over the years. And even here the closest comparison remains Fortnite. We will see if this drastic change of course will prove successful in countering the overwhelming power of FIFA.
