Yesterday the ordinance signed by Michele Emiliano calls for retired doctors and general practitioners to deal with the increasing number of accesses to the emergency rooms of the Region and the shortage of personnel in these departments.

Specifically, there has been an increase in access to the emergency room in the last week (also of citizens “suspected of COVID”). On 4 August 3,040 daily accesses were recorded, of which 3% red, 13% orange, 12% blue, 68% green and 4% white, with an increase of approximately 700 accesses compared to 26 July 2021.

With immediate effect and until 31 August 2021 – unless extended – the General Managers of the Local Health Authorities and Hospitals must urgently call general practitioners into the service (primary care and continuity of care), medical managers in service at the operating units of the hospitals and , if necessary, even retired ones.

Enrollment is a prerequisite for guaranteeing first aid shifts, in accordance with the national and regional provisions in force on the subject. In addition, the directors of the operating units of the Apulian hospitals will have to guarantee the maximum availability of beds necessary for the management of emergency admissions from the emergency room.
