Among the measures envisaged by the energy decree, created to mitigate the rising costs of gas and oil, there is one in particular that risks becoming a boomerang for public health: an exception to the amount of waste that cement factories can burn in substitution of fossil fuels to produce energy. If these plants are already normally among the most polluting industrial activities by far, their danger increases significantly when they are powered by waste.
