Faculty of Medicine, Minister Mass: «Let’s review the numbers. With the new test it will be easier to understand if you really want to be a doctor “

“We need to review these numbers and allow young people to bet more on the desire to do the university course of medicine”. These are the words of the Minister of University and Research Maria Cristina Messa, in reference to the entrance roof for the Faculty of Medicine. She spoke today on the occasion of the 798 years from the birth of the Federico II University of Naples and recalled what had already been achieved regarding the entrance test. From the 2023, in fact, there will no longer be the historical entrance test to access the medical faculty, but there will be a course that can also start from the fourth grade and aspiring doctors will be able to try the test up to four times and thus access the ranking with their best result. “In three or four tests it shows a score that makes you understand if you want to be a doctor or if it is not your job,” said the minister in her speech.

“For the University, the Government is now thinking of a doubling of turnover, stimulating quality recruitment in which merit must be re-discussed on merit-based policies, on this we will make incentives”, explained Messa. Then he praised the improvements achieved by the Federico II University, which is back up in the ranking of Italian universities, underlining that it is also due to the quality paths that the institute is offering and the recruiting methods. «The system requires that recruitment be transparent, giving opportunities to everyone. Instead there is a certain general distrust on recruitment due in part to bad behavior, but in large part also to not having had the possibility of ample turnover, arriving only at 20 percent of turn over. This has led to difficulties in making choices in universities ”, concluded the minister.
