Fish is a food that cannot be missing from the diet. Thanks to its properties it brings numerous benefits to our body. Plus it’s delicious, perfect for use in many recipes.

Unfortunately, however, we often and willingly give up buying it, due to the often high cost and not suitable for all budgets. It is also wary of cheaper variants, because it is thought that they are not of the quality like the most commercialized ones.

In truth, some types of fish that are less expensive and that we see less frequently at the supermarket have nothing to envy to the best-selling species. You just need to know how to recognize them. Here is a fish that we should orient ourselves on more often and that will not make our wallets cry.

An easy recipe with this fish

Garfish is a very versatile fish in the kitchen and can be prepared in many different ways. However, the preferred cooking methods are still frying and grilling.

Among the delicious dishes we recommend the Sicilian garfish. Here are the ingredients for 4 people:

  1. 300 gr of needle;
  2. cherry tomatoes 200 gr;
  3. 20 gr of black olives;
  4. 20 gr of green olives;
  5. 1 clove of garlic;
  6. capers in oil 20 gr;
  7. extra virgin olive oil and parsley to taste

Fillet the fish, discarding the head and tail. Meanwhile, brown tomatoes, olives, garlic and capers in a large pan. Garfish is also added and left to cook for about 10-12 minutes. Finally, the fish is sautéed and the sauce thickened. To be served with a sprinkling of parsley.
