A drone as we are now used to seeing it in flight but of much larger dimensions and above all with seats to carry two passengers. It is the Volocopter, a fully electric 18-rotor aircraft designed and developed by the German company Volocity and presented at Fiumicino airport.

“The goal is to set up an air taxi service that will allow you to reach the center of Rome from the airport in 15-20 minutes. We aim to make it operational in 2024 in order to be ready for the Jubilee”, explained the CEO by Adr Marco Troncone.

“This aircraft is 100 times safer than a helicopter. At the moment it has a flight range of 35km, but we aim to extend it with battery developments – added Christian Bauer, Volocity’s commercial director -. Once fully operational. , the cost of the flight between the airport and the city center will be comparable to a taxi ride, therefore between 60 and 100 euros “.
