For European psychiatry, the third Italian president is Fiorillo – Sanità

(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 15 – It is Andrea Fiorillo, full professor of Psychiatry at the University of Campania “L.

Vanvitelli” since 2017, the new president of the European Psychiatric Association. He is the third Italian president in the history of the Society’: the first was Mario Maj, current director of the Psychiatry department of Vanvitelli.

Born in 1973, Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Second University of Naples in 1997 and specialization in Psychiatry in 2001 and subsequent PhD in Behavioral Sciences and Learning Processes at the same university, Fiorillo he held numerous positions in the European Society over the last 20 years before being proposed for the presidency.

With over 200 papers published in scientific journals and over 15 books on mental health, Andrea Fiorillo is also Editor of European Psychiatry, one of the most prestigious journals in the field. His work has received over 11,000 and his H-index is 54.

The two-year presidency program is divided into ten key points which include the improvement of psychiatric training, the development of international research activities, the promotion of citizens’ mental health and the improvement of psychiatric assistance levels. Among the planned activities, strengthening the network of mental health services also through digital mental health, building a long-term program for the improvement of mental health at European level, promoting collaboration between national psychiatry societies to standardize care standards and scientific activities at European level and to foster the training of young European psychiatrists.
