In via Franchi, in Sturla, a warehouse has been transformed into the new headquarters of the sports association
Genoa – An old disused warehouse transformed into a taekwondo gym. It was inaugurated this afternoon, Sunday 26 June, in via Nino Franchi, in Sturla, the new gym of the Genoa Taekwondo School. At the cutting of the inaugural ribbon were attended by the president of Coni Liguria Antonio Micillo and the managing director for sport of the Municipality of Genoa Stefano Anzalone.
“The need to have new spaces arose from the pandemic – he explained the master Pietro Fugazza – during the year we do taekwondo in King and Barabino schools. In the past few months, we were afraid that the gyms would still be closed and we didn’t want to depend on the schools. So we rented this warehouse and used it as a gym thanks to a contribution (10 thousand euros, ed.) From the Municipality of Genoa ».
The gym is spread over two floors for 350 square meters: the 80 agonists of the Genoa Taekwondo School will train here, while the basic courses will continue in the schools. With over 250 members the school of maestro Fugazza and his wife Deneb Pedemonte is the largest taekwondo company in Genoa and Liguria. “We are silver star of Coni sporting merit and Italian champions in the women’s under 15 red belts”, underlines Fugazza.
