The 900 additional grants for General Medicine, foreseen for the three-year period 2021-2023 by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza, investing the funds of the PNRR are reality. In fact, the Ministerial Decree was published in the Official Gazette of 25 May which assigns, with this objective, almost 34 million euros to the regions and autonomous provinces.

“We express our satisfaction – comments the President Fnomceo, Filippo Anelli – and we thank Minister Speranza for this intervention, which we have often advocated and promoted, which helps to “empty” the so-called training funnel, due to the surplus of graduated and qualified doctors compared to places in specialization schools and the Medicine Course General. And that demonstrates the attention on the part of the Government to primary care and to the figure of the General Practitioner “.

“The General Practitioner – he adds – is in fact the professional to whom the National Health Service entrusts the citizen throughout his life, and who embodies the principles of universality, equality, equity, through proximity, trust, free choice . And the citizen reciprocates: in all the surveys, the satisfaction with the family doctor reaches very high levels, over 80% “.

“A multi-professional model must then be developed in the area – he concludes – in which the General Practitioner works in a team with other professionals. What the country now needs is a true reform process, which pays more attention to the content than to the container, which is shared with professionals and sees them work together in structures distributed throughout the territory. We need an act of courage, concrete and targeted investments that enhance the role of professionals and bring healthcare closer to citizens ”.
