From Giffoni Film Festival, the film festival for children and young people that takes place every year in these days in the city of Giffoni Valle Piana (Salerno), comes a “call to the arts” for 10 young aspiring screenwriters. Those selected will participate in a training course with the Giffoni team of authors for the creation of a short film next autumn.
The initiative is promoted by Giffoni together with the Italian Society of Rheumatology (Sir): the theme of the short, in fact, will be inherent to the knowledge of rheumatological diseases: little known, but which can also affect the youngest. It is not the first time that the scientific society and the festival collaborate, with the aim of creating a union between art and medicine to promote the prevention of these pathologies.
“We are usually led to believe that a rheumatological problem only affects the elderly,” he explains Roberto Gerli, President Sir: “In reality it also affects the youngest groups, even in the pediatric age, and they are often the most relevant forms from a clinical point of view. In the last twenty years we have achieved incredible results on the pharmacological level: rheumatology is one of the branches of medicine that has made the greatest progress from a therapeutic point of view. The therapies – concludes the expert – are essential if applied at an early stage to prevent damage and it is therefore important that young people are aware of the need for prevention “.
