Giovanni Terzi, guest of Eleonora Daniele a Italian stories, on Rai Uno, he talks about his health conditions. A few weeks ago Simona Ventura’s partner confessed to having a serious problem illness genetics that compromised his lungs, worsened after he had Covid. Now on tv he reveals: “I go to the hospital once a month, I also have diabetes and maybe I’ll need the transplant”.
The 57-year-old journalist does not hide anything: “After a series of analyzes I discovered I have one illness genetics that I inherited from my mother, until then I knew nothing about it, at some point it ignited and started killing my breathing and my lung. It’s about a illness degenerative disease that I have to treat with medicines which, however, have also created other problems such as diabetes “.
Terzi noticed that something was wrong while walking at high altitude: “I noticed this while taking a walk with my family in the mountains last December. I have done five marathons, but for some time I was struggling to breathe. I found out because I could no longer breathe well. Simona at that point, after two hours, had called the doctor. From there began a complete analysis of my state, there the doctors realized that the lungs were 40% compromised. However, it was not known exactly what it was. After the analyzes the diagnosis came out: one illness genetics inherited from my mother, which nobody knew about ”.
He lives waiting for the therapy to take effect, otherwise he will have to undergo a transplant. Giovanni Terzi explains: “I consider myself a lucky man. Every month I go to the hospital and they give me the therapy, they are monoclonal treatments and can give annoying complications, but I have not had anything, if I had not tolerated them it would have been a problem. In December they will tell me if these treatments can stop the illness or whether a possible transplant will need to be done. I am being treated at the San Matteo di Pavia, these medicines would cost about 7000 euros a month to cure me. I am inside rare diseases and I don’t even pay the ticket. I’m in a facility with extraordinary doctors. I realize how big this nation allows you to treat yourself for free ”.
Then he adds: “When we caught the virus, first Simona and then me, I was very worried, they immediately took me to the hospital for tests, but the fact that they had already started treatment has buffered the situation”.
John was hurt in the beginning, then he strengthened himself: “At the beginning I cried a lot and maybe it was also anger, but now nothing, I think I have a fantastic life and I believe that every day of my life is worth 100 normal days”. The Ventura has always been close to him: “Simona has given new plans to my life, she has given meaning to everything, we find it hard to break away, we are so happy with our boys. In illness she has always been close to me, like a rock, she has always held out. In some moments she made me understand her concern, but she manages to sedate me, not to increase my fears ”.
