Scalping really just doesn’t give up. Whether it’s a new console, shoes, limited-edition LEGO sets or more, any desired product is ripe for scalping – and the latest to confront this issue is a special edition of God of War: Ragnarök.
As reported by Eurogamer, scalpers have resold the Jötnar edition of the game for twice the original asking price (the most expensive version of the game sells for £230). They were able to do this because pre-orders for the edition opened last week, and since the edition was so limited – as it offered lots of enticing physical items, such as a replica of the in-game Mjolnir – scalpers have been buying Inventory, and basically hold ransom at a much higher price than retail.
Looking at eBay, we can see that various pre-orders for the Jötnar Edition are priced between £300, and some are even over £550, which is a very high asking price considering the actual retail value of the edition.
As for when God of War: Ragnarok will launch, the game will debut on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 9, 2022.
