GT Neo 2, the top-of-the-range smartphone according to realme

by admin

Born in 2010 as the cheapest and most accessible rib of Oppo, really (yes, in lowercase) it only started to take its steps as an independent reality in 2018. It is currently in the top five of European smartphone manufacturers by number of units distributed, but as the CEO of the European division revealed Madhav Sheth during a Milanese event, the goal for next year is to enter the top three. And not only. If the smartphone market remains the priority, it is undeniable that the same path taken by other Chinese brands is at the basis of the company’s strategy.

In the immediate future of realme there are in fact wireless vacuum cleaners and robots, smart devices for the home, laptops, even a TV, which will arrive in Europe in the coming months, some also in the coming weeks. They were there too, but the spotlight was focused exclusively on new smartphone models (and a tablet, also brand new). The reason is simple: the phone remains the hub, the scepter of command from which to control the tools that improve the home, and consequently life, and until it reaches its ambitious goals, the company will wait to start its expansion plan at full capacity also in these shores.

really GT Neo 2

This is why the protagonist of the presentation behind closed doors was the really GT Neo 2. The newcomer is part of the GT series, the higher-end one: the actual price starts at 449 euros, but for the launch, which falls in the middle of Black Friday, it goes down to 369 euros. Available in two configurations (8 GB of Ram and 128 GB, 12 GB of Ram and 256 GB) and three colors (green, blue and black from the finishes matt), has some interesting features, although not too dissimilar from its predecessor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G processor, 6.62-inch HDR 10+ AMOLED E4 120 Hz display, 3 external cameras (64, 8 and 2 MP) and one 16MP internal located in the upper left and without the loved / hated notch. The RAM is 8 or 12 GB, with an extra 7 GB of Virtual RAM (which, to summarize, compensates for the RAM in case of need by relying on the ROM).

The battery is 5000 mAh, rechargeable in 36 minutes with the included 65W charger, and according to the manufacturer’s tests, the GT Neo 2 can withstand 33 hours of calls, or 88 hours of music, or 24 hours of video playback. It is one of the aspects that we will evaluate during the more in-depth test that we will carry out in the coming days. Same goes for heat dissipation, mentioned as another strong point of the device and 50% more thermally efficient than the average smartphone. The merit would be due to the 8-layer structure revised compared to the previous model, but also to the thermal paste that includes 20% of diamond dust, used for the first time in the smartphone sector. The thickness remains low (8.6 mm), and combined with the curvature of the edges of 52 °, makes the handle comfortable. In addition, it is very light: only 189 grams.

realme C21-Y e C25Y

The two models also deserve a brief mention entry level, also arriving on the Italian market and even more in line with the values of the democratization of technology that realme boasts: in fact, it starts from less than half in terms of price, with 139 euros C21-Y and 179 of C25Y. No 5G, more modest memory (3/4 GB of RAM and 32 GB the first, 4 GB and 128 GB the second), the same processor (with eight cores, which reaches a maximum of 1.8 GHz the first, 2 the second), but they compensate both with a battery also in this case of 5000 mAh, and triple cameras of 13 mp the C21-Y and as many as 50 the C25Y. Less captivating in look and performance than the GT Neo 2, they aim at a clearly less demanding type of user.

realme Pad

We close with the first realme tablet, simply called “Pad”: This device is also coming soon to Italy, and is a first step in the European expansion of the Chinese company outside the smartphone realm in which it has shown that it can compete with increasingly fierce competition. It’s hard to predict whether the dizzying growth seen so far will be replicated in other areas as well, but this tablet looks like a good starter of what’s to come.

The price is the first element to stand out: starts at 239 euros and reaches a maximum of 289 euros, depending on the chosen configuration (3 GB of RAM + 32 GB of memory, 4 GB + 64 GB, 6 GB + 128 GB), as well as the 7100 mAh battery , capable of sustaining, producer data in hand, 12 uninterrupted hours of YouTube video, or 15 hours of reading. It is also very thin and light, which we can confirm after holding it for a while: 440 grams and 6.9 millimeters thick (Apple’s iPad is slightly larger, at 495 g and 7.5 mm). ). The processor is a MediaTek Helio G80, not too recent, but still able to offer up to 2Ghz of power, which combined with the 4 speakers located in the corners and Dolby Atmos technology, make it suitable for both gaming and entertainment ( music and video streaming on all). Rounding out the circle are a 2K resolution WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra eXtended Graphics Array) 10.4-inch monitor and an 8 MP wide-angle front camera with dual microphone and noise cancellation, for video calls and meetings.
