Guatemala Implements School Health Program to Safeguard Students’ Well-being

Guatemala City, April 21 (AGN).- The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education (Mineduc) in Guatemala have joined forces to implement the School Health Program, aimed at ensuring the health and well-being of students in the public education system. This program offers a range of benefits including disease prevention, medical care, free medications, and support in case of emergencies or death.

One of the key components of the School Health Program is the focus on disease prevention and medical care, as well as the provision of free medications to students in need. Additionally, the program covers accidents that may occur during the school day to ensure students receive the necessary care.

The promotion of healthy habits and overall well-being is also a significant aspect of the program, with educational campaigns and activities designed to educate students, teachers, and parents on the importance of maintaining good health.

The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) plays a crucial role in the implementation of the program, providing specialized personnel to attend to students’ health needs and collaborating closely with the Ministry of Education. By sharing databases related to the student population, both ministries can identify health needs early and provide appropriate care.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to be aware of the benefits of the School Health Program and how to access them. For more information or assistance, they can call 1528 to ensure the well-being and development of students in the public education system.

This program reflects the government’s commitment to the health and education of students, creating safe and healthy school environments for their holistic development.
