Pontedera, students report problems with the system “but no one intervenes”. The principal: “In case of serious trouble we have no space”
PONTEDERA. Water in the gym, but also in the classrooms. “And with the lack of space, managing everything is really a problem,” says the principal of the XXV Aprile high school Sandro Scapellato, in the light of the inconvenience created by the first wave of rain which in recent days has highlighted the many gaps in the Pontederese school buildings. An intervention by a company appointed by the Province, a competent body in the school village superiors, is already foreseen today. “The flooding of two classrooms due to rain – the principal resumes – occurred on Monday. We immediately reported the problem, but for safety reasons everything was postponed until the roof of the building was dry. It is, in fact, a problem of clogging of the drains on the roof ».
ZERO ALTERNATIVE
The head teacher says that the messages to the Province for requests for small but significant interventions leave very frequently from the school. «The problem concerns many aspects of the structure – underlines Scapellato – but above all the lack of spaces, because with the recent flooding we had to move a classroom to an already occupied classroom because we have no alternatives. And if even more serious situations arise, we will not have the possibility to remedy ».
GYM IN DEGRADATION
And there are not only the problems of sealing the fixtures in the main building that houses the scientific and classical high school. Even in the school gym in via Firenze, in front of the Fermi institute, there are problems. It is a facility used by students and sports associations in the city. Also in this case between infiltrations, degradation and a little water on the floors, the situation is not at all easy for those who use the system (in the pictures). “Unfortunately, on behalf of all my companions, I am forced to report two important critical issues that afflict the institute’s gym – he says Matteo Becherini, representative of the high school XXV Aprile -. Inside the gym, the protective net of a lamp came off and remained hanging only through the safety wire, thus becoming a danger. If a pupil accidentally hit the glass of the lamp with a ball, this, as it is unprotected, could break and cause damage to those nearby. Then, in a bathroom there are water leaks from the showers and from the water heater boiler. A criticality that has been going on for over a week, this in addition to making the bathroom unusable causes waste of water ».
REQUEST FOR INTERVENTION
Both critical issues were reported to the Municipality and the Province, according to the student, “but to date no one has intervened. The lamp problem was reported over two weeks ago and the municipality replied that “it is not dangerous”, but the leak was reported a week ago. On behalf of all my comrades, I invite the municipal administration to act since the conditions in which the gym is located are unacceptable ».
