Health, record of blood donations for a 46-year-old from Catania who reaches 200

Catania – Giuseppe Rizzo, 46, from Catania, has achieved a personal record of generosity and solidarity: two hundred blood donations. Donor since 2003, Rizzo has embraced the slogan “the only source of blood is us and the others are us”, as the motto of the San Marco Donors Association of Catania to which he belongs. On Saturday 29 May at 9:30 am at the San Marco collection center in via Ofelia, the president of the Association Antonino Mazzone will deliver a certificate to Rizzo on the occasion of his 200th donation. A humanitarian goal that becomes a further tool through which to promote initiatives and events aimed at education for donation.

In 2003, the first year of activity, the San Marco Association collected 3,461 donations, in 2020 it exceeded 10,200. It has an agreement with the Vittorio Emanuele and San Marco Polyclinic. Thanks also to donations from the association, the Transfusion Medicine Service of the Policlinico University Hospital is the center with the largest collection in the province of Catania.
