A recent study indicated a correlation between blood groups A and B with respect to the incidence of heart attack and cardiac arrest. But a different way of doing prevention could start from this discovery.
Many factors can contribute to heart attack risks, but a role not to be overlooked, according to a new study, could also be played by your blood type: a discovery that could take place a new way of preventing these events.
What emerged from this heart health research published byAmerican Heart Association is that it is easier for people with blood type A and B to run into problems such as:
- heart attack
- Cardiac arrest
- Occlusions
As for the first two heart problems, the percentage would be less alarming: compared to people with a zero negative / 0-) blood group, groups A and B would have an 8% more chance of heart attack and 10% more more than cardiac arrest.
The most substantial data, however, concerns the third point: up to 51% more venous occlusions were found for these two blood groups compared to that of the so-called universal donors.
While researchers have not yet been able to establish a direct correlation explaining these data, the study could make an important contribution to research and prevention of heart attacks. First, doctors can take advantage of using this information to study more accurate individual therapies.
Dr Hilde Groot, head of research and lecturer at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands argues that:
“GPs could use this information [sul gruppo sanguigno] for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, and medical professionals may consider including blood group information in clinical risk testing and treatment approaches
The second piece of good news is that even if you have blood type A or B, you can still lower your chances of heart attack by eating a healthy diet and exercising.
Not surprisingly, Dr. Mary Cushman herself recommends not being overly alarmed by these new data, but advises people with blood type A and B to simply pay more attention to their lifestyle and try to keep one healthy and balanced. .
