Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. To date, there are 18 million deaths a year globally, but they are expected to increase: it is estimated that 24 million deaths per year will be reached by 2030. After a decline in mortality in recent decades, the numbers are on the rise again, reversing years of progress, both on the front of ischemic heart disease and on that of cerebrovascular disease. Rethinking the strategies to combat cardiovascular diseases in post-Covid, sharing proposals and priorities to recover the delay caused by the emergency and considering the territory as an implementer of effective health policies: this is the urgent goal that will bring together tomorrow, on the occasion of the world day of the heart, for the first time representatives of scientific societies, patients and representatives of civil society, together with institutions and the private sector, at the digital talk show “New cardiovascular prevention strategies in the post-pandemic: the challenge starts from the territory”, organized by Novartis Italia and sponsored by City Health Institute.
