Here is OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro: full charge lasts less than half an hour

by admin

OnePlus doesn’t stop innovating. And by launching the new series of smartphones (the 9) it takes another step towards the consolidation of a position it has earned over the years: that of reliability. There are two smartphones that the Chinese manufacturer has launched today: the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro. The differences between the two devices are many, starting from the price (719 euros for the first, 919 for the second in the basic versions). But we are talking about two top-notch devices. Here we will focus on the OnePlus 9 Pro, which we have been testing for a few days. Let’s see how it went.

The design

Let’s start with the design. Although it is always very difficult to innovate a smartphone from the point of view of aesthetics, OnePlus has tried with a rear body that houses a very rich photographic compartment in the upper left, where the word Hasselblad, partner who has taken care of just the photographic aspect. Like its predecessors, this 9 Pro is also a demanding smartphone from the point of view of size. After all, for a 6.7-inch display, there are no alternatives. Nonetheless, the mix of materials used and a slightly rounded panel make it a nice object to hold. On the underside there is the classic USB-C port, flanked on both sides by speakers. On the right side the famous (and much appreciated) physical button to select the silent modes. A must, for OnePlus.

The cameras

On the rear body there are four sensors of this OnePlus 9: 48 megapixel, 50 megapixel ultra wide, 2 megapixel monochrome, 8 megapixel telephoto. Here, as we said, the Chinese house made use of the collaboration with Hasselblad. And the results can all be seen. If over the years, photography remained an Achilles heel for OnePlus smartphones, this 9 Pro brilliantly passes the exam. The shots are sharp. The image stabilization (a big problem for moving shots) is much better than in the past. Both the main camera (the 48 megapixel one) and the ultra wide (50 megapixel one) perform very well in optimal light conditions. Even the telephoto lens amazed us for its stability: a sign that a great job has been done both on the software and hardware side. And for the first time, in our field comparison with other top of the range very famous for photos (iPhone and Samsung above all), the gap that OnePlus has felt in all these years has been significantly shortened.

The display

The display deserves a little insight. Because this 6.7-inch QHD + panel is based on Fluid Display 2.0 technology. This is an innovation that greatly improves the feedback of the smartphone at the touch of the fingers, and above all introduces the adaptive frequency Smart 120 Hz. In this way, the frequency of the display adapts to what we are doing. Example: it remains at 1 Hz when we view a photo and becomes 24 Hz when we watch a video. The “engine” The beating heart of this OnePlus 9 Pro is the Snapdragon 888 processor, with 5G modem and LPDDR5 type ram. According to the data provided by the manufacturer, the Snapdragon 888 offers significant energy savings, allowing extended use of the smartphone on a single charge. The 5G connection is powered by the fully integrated X60 5G Modem-RF system. From the point of view of RAM, then, OnePlus 9 Pro is equipped with both an LPDDR5 (speed up to 6400Mbps) and UFS 3 storage.

The recharge

When reviewing a OnePlus smartphone, the charging chapter is never trivial. We are not afraid of denials, in asserting that in this field OnePlus is the company that does better than anyone else in the world of smartphones. And with the 9 Pro came yet another confirmation. Thanks to the Warp Charge 65T, the smartphone receives the energy necessary for daily use in just 15 minutes and for a recharge from 1 to 100% it took 30 minutes. The OnePlus 9 Pro achieves this speed using a 4,500mAh battery. For the occasion, the Chinese company also presented the first Warp Charge 50 Wireless, a new solution for wireless charging. With both battery cells charging at 25W, Warp Charge 50 Wireless even outperforms most wired fast charging solutions, charging from 1 to 100% in just 43 minutes. Prices, availability and surprises. OnePlus 9 Pro is available for preorder at OnePlus.com/UK and Amazon.it starting today (March 23). Sales will start on March 31 on OnePlus.com/IT and Amazon.it.
