Here is the lamp that kills bacteria

by admin

Linea Light Group has developed a new technology that illuminates environments and at the same time decontaminates them. The High Intensity Narrow Spectrum (HINS) light will allow the Woofer and Rollip lamps to reduce up to 70-80% of the bacterial load of the surfaces they illuminate, preventing the onset of infections.

With the use of a wavelength of light at 405 nm, the Environment Care Lighting technology is able to illuminate and decontaminate the environments, avoiding the use of more expensive ultraviolet technologies that do not allow the permanence in the environments during the irradiation and can cause deterioration of photosensitive materials. The action of two light sources, one LED with a purple-blue dominant, combined with a white powerLED, allows to illuminate and, at the same time, protect man and his health. Linea Light Group will be the first company in Europe to use the HINS light patent in combination with lighting fixtures that can be used in offices, public places, hospitals and healthcare facilities, residential areas and multifunctional environments. The technology is harmless to people, so it can be used continuously in different spaces, thus improving disinfection and preventing the spread of infection.

The HINS light was developed in the Robertson Trust Laboratory for Electronic Sterilization Technologies (ROLEST) at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, thanks to the insights of a team of experts led by Professor Scott MacGregor, Vice Principal of the University. Gianluca Salciccia, Linea Light Group Sales Director, states: “Linea Light Group’s approach to the design of lighting fixtures has always been out of the box, we have a new way of thinking about the product that leaves freedom to our R&D team. be creative. Experts in Microelectronics, geometric optics, materials science, digital informatics, mechanical prototypers and specialized turners interact daily with fashion designers, supermarket managers, managers of large hotel chains and obviously professionals such as architects and Lighting designers, to create innovative products for technology. and application “.

“Linea Light Group products and projects place people at the center of attention. Lighting can be an important tool for improving well-being and quality of life. Environment Care Lighting by Linea Light Group could also add a third dimension, namely physical well-being, by defining products capable of decontaminating the environments in which people live and work, protecting their health “. Professor John G. Anderson, researcher in electrical and electrical engineering from the University of Strathclyde and a member of the HINS technology research team, said: “Environment Care Lighting is a unique disinfection method in that it does not employ harmful chemicals or dangerous UV light, it only uses visible light that is harmless to humans. The system works by using selected and visible HINS wavelengths of light that activate the light-sensitive molecules contained in the microbes. This process in turn creates chemicals that are lethal to some bacteria. ” warning: not for Covid-19.
