Diabetes, a treacherous pathology, often silent for a long time, and which, if not treated, carries many risks and complications. In times of Covid, the risks increase if you are not protected by the vaccine. This is demonstrated by a study, which the Ats of Bergamo, Agency for the protection of health, activated with the University of Milan Bicocca (and which will soon be the subject of a scientific publication): Alberto Zucchi, head of the company epidemiological service of the ‘Ats, Professor Lorenzo Mantovani, Faculty of Medicine, Center for Studies on Public Health of the University of Milan Bicocca and the researcher Sara Conti, surveyed the diabetic population (only the population with type 2 diabetes was taken into consideration) in the Bergamo area, analyzing the numbers of vaccinated people, the effects of vaccine protection in the diabetic population (in terms of hospitalization and death risks) and comparing the risks in the event of Covid infection between the population with a chronic disease other than diabetes and instead with diabetes (without other chronic diseases or with one or more diseases in addition to diabetes).
