Usually, it all starts with a specific event: some time ago it was Cambridge Analytica, then the Facebook Files, now Elon Musk buying Twitter. Let’s talk about those waves in which social network users begin to take stock of their online presence. And above all they begin to imagine an alternative.
It can live without social networks? The answer is obviously yes, even if circumstances change from person to person. However, to be able to live effectively without social networks there are at least two things to do: the first is to fight your own fomo, what Americans call fear of missing out, or the fear of missing something. In other words, it is the fear that staying out of social networks means not having access to a portion of the world, leaving behind something important.

When it comes to Facebook, the elimination path is not the easiest. First of all, there are two ways to disappear from the platform. The first is deactivation, which leaves the account alive but makes it disappear temporarily; the second is definitive eliminationwhich leaves no room for any second thoughts.
To access both functions just click, on desktop, at the top right to bring up the menu, click on Settings and Privacy and then on Settings. At this point, left must click on Privacy and then, always to the left, up Your information on Facebook. From there, the option for deactivation and elimination appears and you just need to select the one that best suits your needs: deactivation if it is a temporary escape, elimination if it is a goodbye.
Keep in mind that deletion is just a request – Facebook will take some time to fulfill it. IS extremely important, during this time, do not access the platform and, to be even more reassured, uninstall the app from your smartphone. To proceed with the temporary deactivation of the profile you need to access from the desktop, a curious detail for a space created for use as an app. Once accessed from the browser, click on the thumbnail of your photo at the top right and then on Settings; bottom right, in the Edit Profile sectionthere is the option to temporarily deactivate your account.
As for Facebook, also in this case the process is not final: to delete the profile forever you must access this link and indicate the reason for the deactivation. At that point, the account is pending for 28 days (attention: just log in to restart the count), but after that period of time it is permanently deleted.
