HP refreshes Envy and Spectre lines with 12th Gen Intel processors and more OLED options

Following the Omen gaming laptops, HP today updated the Envy and Spectre product lines. First of all, on the Envy side, the main models are the 13.3-inch Envy x360 and Envy 16. Both machines now have OLED options in addition to traditional LCD screens, and like all of the Envy’s new wave, they include a 5MP webcam that supports head tracking and beamforming microphones for enhanced video. For users with handwriting needs, the new phone can also identify handwriting and has a magnetic absorption nano-position for the stylus. The pen itself is also included in the box.

Starting at US$900, the Enxy x360 13 2-in-1 has up to 20.5 hours of battery life, which should eliminate power anxiety for users who are on the move. The product can also be fast-charged via USB-C, charging half of the battery in just 45 minutes. It also has a dedicated silent performance mode that minimizes fan noise as much as possible when quietness is required.

If you’re after performance, the Envy 16 is what HP calls “the most powerful Envy laptop ever.” It’s priced from US$1,400 with an optional 120Hz screen at 16:10. In addition to 12th Gen Intel processors, up to 32GB of memory and NVIDIA RTX 3060/Intel Arc A370M graphics cards are also available. According to HP, the Envy 16 also supports three-way 4K display output outside its own screen. It also has four built-in speakers and is equipped with an infrared module that can be used for face unlocking. In addition, the device also has a built-in sensor to detect whether the body is installed in the bag to prevent unnecessary power consumption.

As for other updates to the Envy family, it includes the new Envy x360 in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch. The former is available with 12th-generation Intel processors or AMD Ryzen 5000 series chips, while the latter is available with up to 4K screens and RTX 2050 GPUs, priced from US$1,100. Next in the Spectre section, this time with the Spectre x360 13.5 and Spectre x360 16. Both have more rounded body lines, and both are Intel Evo certified (that is, have a bright enough screen and dual Thunderbolt 4 ports).

Their screens are all 3:2 ratio, covered with Gorilla Glass that the new Envy does not have, and the panel types are LCD and OLED. Not surprisingly, these two new machines are also equipped with 12th-generation Intel processors, of which the 16-inch model uses the Arc A370M graphics card. Prices for the Spectre x360 13.5 and Spectre x360 16 start at US$1,250 and US$1,650 respectively, and like the new Envy, they’re already on sale in the US first.
