“I go to the psychologist once a week”

by admin

«I have been seeing a psychologist once a week for three years». Chiara Ferragni has returned to talk, on Instagram, ofthe importance of protecting one’s mental health and the path of therapy he has undertaken to take care of himself. An important choice by the entrepreneur and influencer, because it helps to break down the many preconceptions on a topic, that of mental health, which unfortunately often remains a taboo, linked to stereotypes and prejudices.

Already in May 2020, not hiding her frailties, Chiara Ferragni had revealed that she had entrusted herself to the help of a psychologist.

And now, answering the questions of her followers on Instagram (over 24.6 million), she has spoken more extensively and without filters about the work done on herself: “I always tried to face my fears and slowly understand my mind and from what certain mechanisms arose. Over the past three years I have given myself one of the greatest gifts to understand myself: I see a psychologist once a week, an experience that I recommend to everyone».

Asked if he ever suffered from panic and anxiety attacks, he replied with extreme sincerity: “Yes, anxiety even now, at certain times. While I suffered a little from panic attacks in 2015 when I was in Los Angeles and I felt alone and away from the people who truly loved me. I managed to overcome them by throwing myself headlong into my fears, but each experience is naturally different ». Now, also thanks to the path taken with the psychologist, he is more aware and is able to better manage the most difficult moments: “Now when I get a bit of anxiety – since I have children it often happens – I try to concentrate on work or on other things, not to focus on anxiety ».

Chiara also explained the mental mechanisms that in the past led her to experience complicated moments: «I used to criticize myself all the time. Even now it’s hard for me not to be critical of myself, especially in moments when I feel weak and not the usual happy and fulfilled woman. But it is important to give ourselves time to suffer when we experience pain. Taking care of our mental health is important“. Finally, the entrepreneur concluded: “I’m not 100% the Chiara I wanted yet, but it’s a daily job. I am very happy with the person I have become and am becoming. I think that the teenage me, who felt lonely and different from the others, would be very proud of the thirty-four-year-old Chiara of now».

Ferragni is not the only character who enjoys great notoriety to have had the courage to turn the spotlight on the issue of mental disorders. In recent times, many stars have chosen to open up on this issue, also to send an important message to the many people who feel isolated in their sufferings psychological. Lady Gaga, for example, in his book Channel Kindness he told of mental health problems accompanying you from childhood and how they made her feel different and alone, especially during the period ofadolescence, when the poisonous judgments of her classmates hurt her continuously.

Also Selena Gomez has spoken several times openly on the subject. In 2016 he canceled a tour to try and stem anxiety and depression, and sent a clear message to all his fans: “If you feel bad, you don’t have to continue to feel bad“. Then, in 2018, he admitted he had voluntarily admitted to rehab for an emotional breakdown and two years ago she returned to talk about the long battle against anxiety and depression, which she defined “real monsters».

The actor also fought and fights anxiety Ryan Reynolds who, last June on Instagram, on the occasion of the month on mental health awareness, broke the wall of silence and shared his problems: “I know I’m not alone, and I would like to say to all those who, like me, plan too much, they think too much, they work too much and they care too much and all that you are not alone. We don’t talk enough about mental health, e we don’t do enough not to stigmatize it».

Even outside the Hollywood star system, important voices have been raised in the last year in order not to leave the problem of less visible but often excruciating ailments affecting the mind in a shadow. Above all the prince Harry, which on this very theme he wanted to create and produce together with Oprah Winfrey the docuseries The Me You Can’t See for Apple TV +. A series in which the British royal has drawn up a sort of manifesto that invites us to share our weaknesses in order to face them and overcome them more easily: “Deciding to ask for help is not a sign of weakness. We are born in different circumstances, we grow up in different environments and we face different experiences in life. But we are all human beings. Most of us carry unresolved trauma, loss, or bereavement with us. Which seems to belong only to us. And in a way it is. However last year we learned that we are all in the same boat and I hope this series proves that there is strength in vulnerability, connection in empathy and power in honesty».
