Researchers from Brandeis University, in Waltham, in the United States have tried to understand how the App can change our behaviors and our personality traits. Following 1,523 people for 13 months, they discovered the strong impact of the indications of the App on the lives of the study participants. Everyone wanted to limit their neuroses and become more outgoing. The group of volunteers led by the application changed their way of being much more than those who had not downloaded it.

The absence of a therapist even in the evaluation phase can in fact be a limit as the opinions of patients and their loved ones do not have a scientific value. As seems to indicate that, in particular, study participants said they improved in both the traits they wanted to sharpen and those they wanted to soften. On the other hand, family and friends have a different opinion, who considered the intervention of the App to be positive only in those who wanted to make their traits more solid, with a deeper intervention, but not in those who just wanted to smooth out some harshness of their character.

If in the future the results of the study are confirmed by other tests, the research could serve to reinforce the effects of psychotherapy. But, according to Mencacci, this system does not necessarily lend itself to work on a clinical diagnosis.
