It is surprising how this common drink can prevent liver cancer

by admin

The liver, as is well known, plays a key role in the proper functioning of our body. In fact, many define it as the “chemical powerhouse” of the human body. It is on the liver, the largest gland we have, that fundamental functions depend, such as digestion and the metabolism of fatty foods and ingested sugars. But also the synthesis of hormones and the elimination of toxins.

Precisely in consideration of all these functions it is therefore essential to pay particular attention to this organ, starting from our diet. A diet marked by the abuse of fatty, alcoholic foods, added to a sedentary lifestyle can reduce its efficiency. The consequence is the onset of disorders, inflammations and chronic diseases.

Consequently, following a healthy diet, following a Mediterranean diet, low in fat and sugar and rich in certain foods, helps to make the liver function better.

It is surprising how this common drink can prevent liver cancer

Among the most dangerous diseases affecting this organ, there is certainly liver cancer, a very widespread neoplasm worldwide (the sixth most common cancer in the world). For years now, scientific studies have shown the close link between alcohol abuse and the onset of chronic liver disease.

It is very recent (June 2021), however, a research published in the BMC Public Health magazine by prof. Paul Roderick of the University of Southampton leading to incredible results. This research has shown that coffee consumption contributes to reducing the progression of liver disease, including cancers.

Espresso, decaffeinated, soluble or prepared with mocha: whatever it is, coffee reduces the onset of liver disease by 20%. The English study monitored, for 11 years, a sample of people (494,585) between the ages of 40 and 69, of which 384,818 habitually consumed coffee.

The results

The working group of prof. Roderick started taking into account some factors of the analyzed sample: body mass index, alcohol consumption and cigarettes. Over the 11 years of research, it was found that people who regularly consumed coffee had reduced the onset of liver disease by 20%.

Despite science proving it, it is surprising how this common drink can also prevent liver cancer. The advice is to consume it without sugar and not to exceed three or four cups a day.
